Available for Sleep Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certificates in 2022
Beginning in 2022, diplomates of the ABA may participate in a longitudinal assessment provided by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), in addition to completing CME and attesting to QI activities, to maintain their Sleep Medicine and/or Hospice and Palliative Medicine certificate. This longitudinal assessment covers the breadth of each specialty and will be available to Sleep Medicine and/or Hospice and Palliative Medicine diplomates from all co-sponsoring boards, including the ABA. (Participation in the longitudinal assessment is not required; you may still choose to take the traditional Maintenance of Certification exam to maintain your certificate.)
In 2023, ABIM will introduce a pilot longitudinal assessment in Sleep Medicine that focuses on aspects of the subspecialty seen in the practice of diplomates of the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS).
We will continue to share details as they become available. In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about the ABIM’s new longitudinal knowledge assessment on their blog.
